Northwest Regional Laboratory: Mathematics and Science Education Center

The Mathematics and Science Education Center provides Northwest K-12 educators with resources and services to support challenging, effective mathematics and science curriculum, instruction, and assessment for all students. The Center supports teachers' efforts to guide students in actively exploring and making sense of the world, to challenge all students to become rigorous thinkers and creative problem solvers, and to facilitate engaging and authentic learning experiences.

Earth Sciences

The University of Washington Geophysics Program

The Geophysics Program is home to the Pacific Northwest Seismograph Network (PNSN), an array of about 150 seismograph stations located throughout Washington and Oregon. In addition to its research and emergency management functions, the Seismology Lab serves the public as an earth sciences information center. The faculty and staff are also available to advise K-12 teachers who are developing curriculum based on information gathered from the Geophysics Program and the PNSN.

The mission of the University of California Museum of Paleontology is to investigate and promote the understanding of the history of life and the diversity of the Earth's biota through research and education. Project ASTRO pairs grade 3-12 teachers with volunteer amateur and professional astronomers and earth scientists with the goal of building long-lasting partnerships to improve science education in schools.

Washington State NASA Space Grant Consortium

The Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium sponsors educational and research programs related to NASA's missions on Earth and in Space. We also house the NASA Regional Educator Resource Center and serve as a NASA point of contact for Washington residents

Alaska Fisheries Science Center Education Resources

Alaska Fisheries Science Center and National Marine Fisheries Service Northwest Regional Office have created and compiled educational materials for use in the classroom for students K-12. The topics includes a Science Resource Guide with 48 marine fisheries and resources worksheets, outlines and answer sheets which can be photocopied. Also included are links to additional resources related to the oceans of the Pacific Northwest

The Best of the Net Web site is an anthology of sites from the World Wide Web chosen by the team of educators and multimedia specialists at EXCITE and Houghton Mifflin. The sites were selected for their outstanding science content for grades 3 to 8.

Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) is a worldwide network of students, teachers, and scientists working together to study and understand the global environment. GLOBE students make environmental observations at or near their schools and report their data through the Internet. Scientists use GLOBE data in their research and provide feedback to the students to enrich their science education.

Electronic Journal of Science Education

The Electronic Journal of Science Education is a peer reviewed electronic journal  devoted to the timely sharing of science education information via the World Wide Web. Using communications technology, information and research related to science education issues, K-16, are addressed.

ScI-Journal

Sci-Journal is an online journal that publishes work done by students in secondary and postsecondary science classes. The Sci-Journal provides students with an arena to discuss, debate and collaborate on science in an effort to both motivate and provide insight into the way in which "real" science is done. A very interesting site to investigate and/or participate in especially if you are looking for examples of the collaborative process online
