Diversity in Technology Group logoThe mission of the Diversity in Technology Group is to provide opportunities for underrepresented groups to access and equally participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education programs and activities.

Current Projects:

  • National Girls Collaborative Project
    The purpose of the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) is to strengthen the capacity, impact, and sustainability of existing and evolving girl-serving science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Through collaboration among organizations, institutions, and businesses committed to expanding participation of women in STEM, the existing and evolving projects will have a much greater chance of maintaining interest and participation of girls in STEM within their regions.
  • Washington Expanding Your Horizons Gateway Project
    This gateway serves to connect and support all the coordinators of Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conferences in the state of Washington. The conferences are designed to nurture girls' interest in science and math courses and to encourage them to consider science and math-based career options such as engineering, computer science and physical science. The goal is to coordinate services and identify ways to maximize resources to benefit all EYH conferences.
  • TechREACH
  • Northwest Girls Collaborative Project
    Advancing the Agenda in Gender Equity for science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Washington and Oregon. Funder: National Science Foundation, Program for Women and Girls, September 1, 2002-February 29, 2004.
  • Life Sciences Central
    PSCTLT created an online life sciences directory of education and outreach programs in Washington state. The directory features over 200 programs located throughout the state that encourage and promote careers in these areas, including summer camps, certification programs, student/teacher outreach programs, and college or university programs. www.psctlt.org/wdc/

    The directory is part of a new Web site, www.LS-central.com, which highlights jobs in life sciences and contains life science education resources for students, teachers, and counselors in Washington state. It includes video clips of people working for local companies, pod casts, photos for wallpaper, and a link to the life science directory.
